Two preparations, one starting point
PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. PRF stands for Platelet-Rich Fibrin. Both begin the same way at our clinic on Oracle Road: a small blood draw, then a centrifuge that separates the platelets from the red blood cells. What happens in the tube is where they part ways.

Why the slow release matters
Collagen does not rebuild in an afternoon. The fibrin scaffold in PRF holds the platelets in place and lets them release their growth factors over days, which is closer to how a wound heals on its own. That is the reason the improvements from PRF treatments keep building for weeks after a session, and why our clients are told to expect a gradual change rather than an overnight one.
Why no anticoagulant matters
PRF is autologous and additive-free: it is your blood and nothing else. For clients who chose CARE Esthetics Tucson because they want to avoid synthetic fillers and chemicals, that is the whole point. It also means the risk of an allergic reaction is very low.
Where PRF came from
PRF was developed in dentistry and oral surgery, where it is placed at extraction and implant sites to speed healing. That is not a coincidence for this clinic: our provider, Stephanie, is a registered dental hygienist who trained in PRF facial esthetics with the CARE program.
